Singer Teena Marie dies at 54

Teena Marie, best known for hits “Lovergirl” and “I'm a Sucker for Your Love,” has been found dead at her home in Pasadena, Ca.

Her manager Mike Gardner said she died in her sleep.

Known as the “Ivory Queen of Soul,” Motown did not use her image on her debut album, Wild and Peaceful, but her music proved so popular that her follow up album did show her pictures and she became popular with soul audiences.

Teena Marie left Motown in'82 and in'88 scored a U.S. R&B #1 with “Ooo La La La”. She made something of comeback in'04 and received a Grammy nomination for best R&B vocal performance.
