Facebook Music service

A tech blogger may have stumbled upon code for Facebook's much-rumoured music service... and it might be called Facebook Vibes.
Jeff Rose was downloading a file to run Facebook's new video chat application when he says he found a unique string of code. He says it links to a "MusicDownloadDialog" page and something called facebook.vibes.

It's important to note that Facebook hasn't announced anything yet, but whisperings about this new music service have been abundant on the interwebs for a few months now. In May, it was confirmed that Facebook and Swedish music service Spotify had inked some sort of partnership, and last week Spotify announced it would launch in the United States soon. Last month, rumours lit up the interwebs that Facebook would partner with Pandora and Rhapsody for the service. Spotify is already linked with Facebook in Europe through user applications. Spotify has cut deals with most of the major labels, including EMI Music, Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and Merlin, which represents independent artists.

Warner Music Group continues to hold out, so until they come to some kind of agreement with Spotify, Warner artists won't appear on the service on this side of the Atlantic. It's not known when Spotify will officially launch in North America, either.
