Mötley Crüe fans only

Mick Mars was recently interviewed by Billboard on his upcoming solo album.

Mars revealed as follows about the status of his upcoming debut solo album: “Not like today’s music, which to me is pretty much pop metal and more growly guys… It’s all cool and it’s all good, and I’m just searching for something that’s just a little different than that. I [also] don’t want to be living in ’85. It’s hard to reinvent yourself, but that’s what I’m doing now. I’m trying to reinvent the way that I approach music writing. I’ve got a lot of crap, and I’ve got a lot of good stuff too… [Jokingly] I hope I don’t lose too many fans.” Mars has a singer whose name is Jacob and who “can be a lot of different voices, and it’s pretty amazing. I go, ‘I want this kind of voice here,’ and he’ll pull it straight off.” In terms of the producer for Mars‘ debut solo album, it’s none other than Michael Wagener who interestingly worked with the guitarist in the early ’80s during Mars‘ pre-Mötley Crüe band Vendetta. Mars advised in that regard: “The funny thing about [this is] Michael did my very first [band] recording when he got here from Germany… And now he’s doing my last record. Pretty ironic.”

Billboard reported that Mars hopes to have his solo album out at the beginning of next year.
